Learn the basics of growing hybrid rye, finding markets, and feeding livestock with small grains. Farmer Rick Neuvirth will share his experiences with how he manages hybrid rye from field prep and planting to weeding and harvesting. Hosted by Albert Lea Seed, KWS, and Rick Neuvirth. Rick and his family farm 1,900 acres, of which 1,500 acres are organic or in transition. 400 acres are in non-GMO corn for hog feed. They raise 850 sows for a niche market selling feeder pigs (Berkshire boars and cross-breed females). They also have a few Dexter beef cows.
